And you can always count on at least one of them to capture the moment and tag you on the ’Gram, just in case you forgot to take a single picture.
Our First Cuzzins bring that same energy to Kinfolk Lit. They’re the readers, recommenders and community builders who keep Black books in conversation, put the group chat onto the next great read, introduce readers to authors they might have missed and make sure the moments worth remembering don’t disappear when the weekend ends.
Some moderate conversations. Some host book clubs, interview authors, cover events or partner with publishers. Some are the people who get everybody together after the official programming ends. And some simply show up ready to read, recommend, connect and make the Reunion feel like family.

From Arkansas by way of Southern California, Rhonda is a lifelong reader. Keisha Parks is the former educator and blogger behind The Blerd Library, an online space that discusses and highlights QT+BIPOC speculative fiction as a foundation for reimaging our reality and Black futures. She has curated speculative fiction panel programming for Kinfolk Lit, moderates panels in both book- and comic-specific spaces, publishes reviews, and interviews authors, academics, and creatives. She also co-hosts a live podcast, The Pink Riot Comic Show, that highlights marginalized creators in comics and pop culture. Her mission is to help people love and appreciate QTBIPoC speculative fiction as a tool for reimaging and reshaping our current reality into a more inclusive and healed world. Social anxiety is her life-long nemesis.
