KINFOLK LIT FEST 2027
The First Cuzzins
You know the cuzzins. The ones who stayed up all night at Grandma’s house, got the party started, were your first pick for a Spades partner, and somehow convinced everybody to try whatever dance was trending on TikTok. And you can always count on at least one of them to capture the moment and tag you on the ’Gram, just in case you forgot to take a single picture.
Our First Cuzzins bring that same energy to Kinfolk Lit. They’re the readers, recommenders and community builders who keep Black books in conversation, put the group chat onto the next great read, introduce readers to authors they might have missed and make sure the moments worth remembering don’t disappear when the weekend ends.
Some moderate conversations. Some host book clubs, interview authors, cover events or partner with publishers. Some are the people who get everybody together after the official programming ends. And some simply show up ready to read, recommend, connect and make the Reunion feel like family.
Because every family reunion needs your favorite cuzzins.

I’m a New York City-based book content creator, mom, and passionate advocate for stories that deserve to be seen. For the past three years, I’ve built a community by creating engaging book content that celebrates diverse storytelling and amplifies marginalized voices. I love connecting readers with books that spark conversation, challenge perspectives, and stay with them long after the final page.
My reading tastes span thrillers, horror, romance, and contemporary fiction, and I enjoy highlighting both bestselling authors and hidden gems. Whether I’m sharing honest reviews, curated recommendations, reading vlogs, or creative book-focused content, my goal is to make reading feel exciting, accessible, and inclusive for every kind of reader.
As both a creator and a busy mom, I understand the value of stories that offer escape, connection, and representation. Through authentic, engaging content, I strive to inspire others to discover their next favorite read while championing authors whose voices deserve a wider audience.

My name is Danielle, but friends call me Danzi. I like to say that I am a Jamaican girl living in a fantasy world!
I am passionate about sharing my love for science fiction and fantasy books. These genres not only stoke the imagination, but also uphold a legacy of resistance. They hold a mirror up to current realities, while challenging us to imagine new ones. That is magic in itself!
I particularly showcase diverse stories by authors from the global majority, including Black, brown, indigenous, queer, and immigrant communities. I was born and raised in Jamaica, so I love to highlight writers from the Caribbean diaspora. And as a Black woman living in America, I will always champion Black authors.
For my bookish thoughts, find me on Instagram, Threads, The StoryGraph, Goodreads, and TikTok at @danzibooks. Pronouns: she/her.

Most of her content is shared through humor. She loves making people laugh, but also brings it back down when the time calls for it. From Arkansas by way of Southern California, Rhonda is a lifelong reader. From growing up spending her summers in the library devouring books, to working in the library as a young adult, to having a career that requires reading - the written word has never been far away. Forever a champion for Black authors, Rhonda ran a successful yearslong online book tour service called Cocoa Chapters dedicated specifically to promoting books written by Black authors. During that time, she had the pleasure of working with many talented content creators, authors, and publishers and was grateful for the opportunity to showcase so many Black authors' works. While life events moved her in a different direction, her love for promoting BLACK books & authors remains the same. In real life, she's raising a teen daughter, fighting for social justice, and trying not to trip over her morkiepoo, James Baldwin.

“It’s your fav and I’m back in the truck!” is how RoseGoldBookTok starts ALMOST every video. She is a Texas girl with Louisiana roots. She loves writing short stories, poetry and prose, and reading YA Fiction, Romance and Fantasy. She has entered the bookish world wide web and has a no-holds-barred approach to book “thoughts and things”. Reading and writing have been love languages since she has had access to it - around toddler time. An audiobook champion and educator with a passion for the world that literacy opens, she started sharing books to encourage her students to read. That was the beginning of it all. She’s a truth teller, a thought forager, and a bridge from personal opinion to book recommendations. Her perfect Vacay includes a beach, an aesthetic fruity mocktail, and a good book to read.
